Proud Supporter of the Galloway & Southern Ayrshire Biosphere

I fell in love with South West Scotland as a child and my fascination continues to this day. I achieved a life goal of moving my family and business here earlier this year. We are incredibly proud to have received our GSA Biosphere Charter certificate in the post this week. We are delighted to be able to contribute to supporting the Biosphere for future generations.

Galloway and Southern Ayrshire Scotland has been recognised for its world class natural environments and its unique cultural heritage.  Awarded its UNESCO Biosphere designation in 2012, the region stands alongside UNESCO World Heritage Sites, Creative Cities and Global Geoparks as a place of international value and importance. The Biosphere is recognised worldwide as a great place to live, work, and play.

The GSA Biosphere was the first to be designated in Scotland and covers more than 5,200km².  The region includes the UK’s first Gold-Tier Dark Sky Park and is home to some of Scotland’s most iconic wildlife, from red deer to black grouse.  It is celebrated as a place of discovery, adventure and inspiration, where holidaymakers come to experience rural life and where artists explore the infinite possibilities of colour and light.

As an organisation, Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere works towards the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.  Its projects cover conservation, education, climate resilience, and business development support for sustainable enterprise.  It champions the ‘love local’ approach, encouraging us all to connect more closely with the land and people that surround us, creating a better future for all.

As a Proud Supporter, La Di Da Interiors have committed to the six principles of the Biosphere charter, which in essence means that we are doing our part to help achieve the above.  Proud Supporters share the Biosphere ethos of believing that great things are possible through working together.  Being a Proud Supporter signifies my belief in the importance of social connections in our communities and respect for our incredible biodiversity.  We are doing our best to minimise the environmental impacts of running a business, and to support a fair and robust local economy.

Sustainability is a journey and the great thing about it is that we are all truly journeying together. The small actions that each of us undertakes can have wonderful outcomes when they combine and coalesce, and there is so much to share along the way in terms of knowledge, experience and ideas. The Galloway & Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere is there as a point of reference, as a source of information and support, and as inspiration.
